If you're looking to build big biceps, which is a goal that many people have, you must approach it from the right manner. Failure to do so could mean that you aren't getting the best results you could be from the gym, in fact, it could easily mean that you hardly get any results at all.

Many people train their arms in the wrong manner and even though they want to build big biceps and train in manner that seems like it should work, it doesn't.

Here's what to keep in mind.

Muscles Respond To Heavy Weight

The first thing to remember is that muscles respond best to lifting a heavy weight. So you have to ask yourself, what exercises will you be able to lift the most weight on?

Many people go into the gym and perform bicep curl after bicep curl, but really, they could lift a great deal more weight on an exercise like a bent over row, which also works the biceps.

You should start putting more of your focus building a bicep workout with exercises that will work the arms as well as other muscles in the body such as bench press, rows, shoulder press, and pull-ups. These will allow you to progress much faster than if you kept on doing all the isolation work you're currently doing.

Muscles Respond To High Frequency

Next, remember that muscles respond best to high frequency. This means that the more often you can get into the gym (being recovered) to work a muscle tissue, the better off you'll be.

If you're going to the gym and doing a five day body part split (chest on one day, back on the next, shoulders on the next, and so on), how often are you really going to hit your biceps?

Not very often. You're far better off with a full body or upper/lower split that has you working each body part two or three times each week. Since you'll be working the biceps on chest and back exercises anyway, you don't need to dedicate a separate day to arms.

You can build big biceps just by being sure you're giving 100% on those lifts instead.

Muscles Respond To Rest

Finally, if you hope to build big biceps, you must make sure you're getting enough rest. It's a big problem when people neglect rest, instead opting to workout 6 days a week. If your body is going to grow back stronger, it's got to have the time to rebuild the muscle tissue.

If you're not resting, it simply cannot do this.
